Able Plus Empowerment Organisation (APEO) is committed to effective, transparent, and participatory governance to maximize impact for persons with disabilities and vulnerable populations in Wajir County, Kenya. Our structure is designed for swift decision-making, accountability, and strong grassroots engagement.
APEO’s operational structure is administered on three integrated levels, ensuring effective coordination from the leadership level down to the community level.
APEO’s management is based on a participatory approach, promoting extensive collaboration with stakeholders such as local authorities, NGOs, coordination forums, and community-based organizations. We maintain a pool of experienced, qualified, and dedicated staff, led by the Coordinator who reports to the Board. Collaboration and community mobilization are key resources for minimizing duplication in service delivery and providing accurate information for unique interventions that empower persons with disabilities.
The APEO Executive Board consists of dedicated members committed to disability inclusion. It serves as the ultimate strategic oversight body, answerable to the Annual General Assembly. All registered members and stakeholder representatives participate yearly to review the strategic direction of the organization and hold strategic members accountable. Headed by the Coordinator, the management team includes the Finance Officer, Project Officers, Programs Officers, and Logistics Officers. The team is answerable to the Executive Board through the Coordinator.
Responsible for developing long and short-term policies and representing the organization at county-level coordination meetings. Works in conjunction with community hubs and contains departmental focal points (drawn from the field) and department heads stationed at the county level. Dispatches monitoring teams to project sites to consult directly with community representatives and persons with disabilities. Supports community-based structures and is jointly responsible for ensuring projects are implemented according to agreement.
